In addition to the spectacular islands of Amakusa which rise in the distance beyond the Shiranui Sea, (called the Mediterranean of Japan), and Mt. Unzen, there is also steamy Yunoko Hot Spring sending its vapor up into the air.
Cutlass fish fishing and swimming on a white sand beach can also be enjoyed here.

It is said that Yunotsuru Hot Spring was discovered by the defeated soldiers of the Heike fleeing the enemy. They came upon a crane immersing itself in the hot water of Yunotsuru to heal its wounds.
